In addition to Rob and Kristen’s announcement Summit has officialy stated that they will be moving foward with a New Moon movie, see the announcement on their website, here!

Los Angeles, CA November 22, 2008 — Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of NEW MOON, the second installment of its filmed franchise Twilight, the action-packed, modern day vampire love story.

Stephenie Meyer stated, “I don’t think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I’m thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on NEW MOON.”

It’s hard for us all in the UK to understand just how big a deal new movie Twilight is in America right now. The film, based on the first of Stephenie Meyer’s mega-selling novel quartet, opens in the US on Friday, and is already selling out screenings all over the country…  watch thousands of young women screaming at him (Robert Pattinson) in the King Of Prussia shopping mall in Pennsylvania. The movie opens in the UK on 19 December, when we can discover what all the fuss is about.  Will you be watching it?

In the new issue of Screen International magazine, there is a (huge!) full page Twilight movie review (3 1/2 stars out of 5) and half a page talking about how well it could do for Summit. Rob is also featured at the top of the single image (Wall-E) cover.

Well given the announcement that New Moon has been officially greenlit anything else today seems pretty…well…superfluous. Anyway, Alphie and I have just gotten back from our movie event and dinner. We hope that everyone who came to Nashville to see the movie with us had as much of a blast as we did. We’ll post pictures and video later in the week. 

So in seeing the movie ourselves we loved it! Are there some things we didn’t like, sure, but that’s true with any movie. We pretty much feel that Summit got it right. Kudos to Catherine, Melissa, The cast, The producers, and way too many people to list.  Thanks for respecting the heart of the story and transcending it to screen. [Read more]
