Answer Rob’s Question!

We at Twilight News got the opportunity to interview Rob before the Premiere in London!  One of the questions I asked Rob:

‘When you walk into a room now, do you feel out of place if no one screams at you?’

He laughed and said, ‘It’s really weird.  You run a website, can you ask the readers this question? Did people scream while reading the books?  I want to know!’

So Twilighters, enlighten Rob!  Did you scream while reading the books?

We will have our interview with Rob (as well as Kristen and Catherine) up shortly once we get the format right!  We look forward to your comments!

Yeah! I scream two times with the books…
but I don’t know if I would scream for Rob in the street…
I like him, so much… but… I think that he must be scary whit all of us xD
I hope you can read all this post!
congratulations Rob, for all your work, you’re awesome…
    never change!

  2. lofi says:

No… <.< Some eyebrow movement. I’m not a screamer. (Avoid large crowds, too…)

  3. tete03 says:

I didn’t scream out loud but I screamed a little inside. I mean dude sounded crazy to me. He would watch her sleep… really is that ever romantic to wake up to some dude in your room staring at you sleep? It is a good series but the question I always wanted to know is if he did anything extra while sitting in her room. He was hiding in a corner watching her sleep… can we say the perfect setup for a dirty joke.

  4. mariajh says:

hi it’s maria again just wanted to say I really didn’t scream it more so some squealing and I kept saying oh my god besides that I was good and can’t wait to see little ashes and new moon.

  5. yrod29 says:

I didn’t scream at all. Not once… What can I say, I’m not a screamer. Although I was very annoyed during the time I was reading Breaking Dawn. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the book it was just one of those things I guess where the book had me thinking too much.

  6. twihard1901 says:

I didn’t scream while reading the books. I kind of sqeal though. I have screamed when I went to the midnight release of Breaking Dawn. But besides all of that, no, I don’t scream during the books.

  7. Luciana says:

Bok, I`m from Croatia and we don`t scream at people. We are weird nation. When some celebrity comes here everybody acts like they don`t even notice. Actually they don`t. Richard Gere, Bernie Ecclestone, Nick Nolte, Norah Jones..nothing-weird nation. LOL. 4 now, there is no even a mention of Twilight. We`ll see what will happen 1.1.2009. Anyway no screaming!
I personally notice you in the movie Dark Kingdom-The dragon king and you were great. I like your left eye-seriously. so… greeting from Croatia.
    Good luck :)

  8. Scarle1245 says:

    Hi Rob:

No, I didn’t scream while I read the books. They’ve inspired me, made me cry, brought me new friends, re-awakened a sense of romance in my life, made me angry, frustrated me (I so badly want to see the rest of Midnight Sun), thrilled me, and probably many other things, but I’ve never screamed over them.

I did get a little enthusiastic when my midnight premiere tickers were confirmed, but even then, I didn’t scream.

I have not yet had the opportunity to be in the same location as you, but I think – if that ever happens – that I would tend to go quiet rather than screaming. Several times, I’ve watched your reaction to the screaming and felt so sympathetic for you. I think you’ve become more used to it recently, but I don’t feel as if you’re ever really comfortable with it.

If I were a teenage girl again, I think I would probably scream at you. Screaming is simply an expression of excitement at seeing you, a opportunity to vie for your attention, and an overabundance of hormones the girls don’t quite know what to do with. It’s all about each of them wanting you to pick them – a task of unfathomable impossibility – but dreams are built on hopes, and so, the screaming goes on. I know it’s hard for you to understand, but keep in mind – it’s because they care about you. There are worse things in the world you’ll have to deal with. :-)

  9. tanida_723 says:

Well…I have to say that I did not scream when I read the books, but I didnt scream when I saw Rob either (I think I might have been in shock haha) but I did cry and gasp and awwed at some parts :] Btw I think Rob did an amazing job as Edward! He fit the part perfectly. His imperfections perfected the movie! :] haha

    Can’t wait till new moon!!
    Bee

  10. ErinSmith says:

I didn’t scream at all. I don’t scream unless its absolutely necessary.

  11. fanpire96 says:

No i haven’t screamed while reading the book, but i ‘silently’ screamed as I watched the movie becuase Rob was just such an AWESOME Edward Cullen!!!! I’m really glad that Rob got the part as Edward!!!!

  12. jbrubaker1430 says:

I didn’t scream but I swooned and maybe bit a pillow or two. I’ve read twilight at least 10 times and seen the movie 5 and going again tomorrow. I’m 37 and everytime I read the book or see the movie I’m a teenager all over again feeling that intensity of first love. I also must say that I have read everything I can get my hands on and seen every video of Rob and I think, no I know I am more taken with him than his character.

  13. DontStopIfIFall says:

I didn’t scream, but I squealed and I cried. I just wanna add that I think Robert did a great job of playing Edward Cullen. It was exactly as I imagined it! x

  14. Sanity81 says:

I get emotional while reading, but it never comes out as annoying little girl screaming. I gasp, cry, get nervous (shaking my leg) when something big is about to happen, or say something out loud..never screaming. I scream/cheer only at sporting events and a couple rock concerts that asked us to scream if we wanted more, but I never scream while people are trying to talk (there is no reason to scream when people are trying to talk, it’s rude).

Loved all four books and was sad when they ended.

  15. BillieJoesEntourage says:

It’s cool that he asked us a question instead of it being the other way around like usual.

hm…I don’t think I screamed, but I certainly did a lot of OMG’s and *GASP*
    *INHALE*
    *OH NO*
    *AHHH*’s

haha! but, alas, no screaming :D
I have a horrible memory, so I don’t know if I can trust my answer, though…lol!

    did YOU scream Rob? lolz

  16. mybella says:

HA! I bet you thought you were joking hu Rob lol, this is what happens when you talk to the fans, ask us a question and we tell you know lies ~smirks~
No my friend, I didn’t scream while reading the books, but I did hell out NO and OMG a few times, It really was just that good!! I know your not use to all of this madness, but I will say this, you might as well get use to it and enjoy, well as much as you can anyways. Your “IT” luv!! And I know your quite content to just fade into the back round, but Stars don’t fade, and the clouds will only hide them for so long.
    We love you! mybella

  17. chelseacon says:

I love the books, I mean they’re really easy to get into and I love the idea, It reminds me of Romeo and Juliet which I absolutely adore. Although the books are about a vampire falling in love with a human girl, I see the vampire as more of a metaphor, showing how almost impossible it is for these two to be together, they come from completely different worlds and will never work…kinda like Romeo being a Montague and Juliet being a Capulet but the idea is that they will go to any lengths to be together. I attended the premiere on Wednesday and I would just like to say, Rob you played Edward to perfection, just how I pictured him and Kristen too. Catherine has done an amazing job, so BIG kudos to her also. As for me screaming at the books which was the main point of this question…no I didn’t scream lol, I cried in parts but I’m a sensitive soul lol. I hope that’s answered your question Rob and hopefully given you more of an insight I guess. Would love to hear what you have to say about the book yourself.

    Chelsea. :)

  18. sammywammie09 says:

i didnt scream while i read the books. but when i talked about what was happening i did. either in excitement or frustration. i definetly gasped and got very happy when stuff happened in all of the books. i cry all the time while reading though. i am so thankful that a person like Robert got the chance to play Edward. he did such a good job. i didnt expect him to do that well. i love all 4 books. thanks for letting us have the chance to give you some feedback.

  19. Kelly in San Diego says:

I find it difficult to let out a scream in a roller coaster let alone reading a book. Though I I may be too self-conscious for screaming in general, I did go through the gambit of emotions while reading the book. And as much as I’d love the opportunity to see you in person, I feel so badly for Rob that I just couldn’t bring myself to add to the hysteria. I’ll just settle for my pleasurable imaginings of meeting him! (Now in these I find many scream worthy moments!) :-D

  20. Kiran_1732 says:

YEA!! i had to scream quietly as my parents where asleep i prolly screamed alot not because of being scared. I screamed when i looked at the cover the cover had a pic of Edward Cullen. LMAO well yea i did and robert pattinson is HOT! : )

  21. christine says:

i didn’t scream exactly… but there were many times i would be grinning so hard my face would hurt. i laughed a lot also haha but not really screamed.
    :)
    1<3 Rob

  22. carpediem says:

No! I did not scream, but I laughed, cried, and groaned in frustration while reading all of the books (Bella’s character frustrates me).

I think people scream at you because it’s the only way they can SHOW you how much they admire you and appreciate your talent. Just like YOU feel like there is nothing you can give back – when you’re in a crowd of fans, nothing you do will really stand out, so the only choice is to collectively send love your way through screaming. :) When someone is so excited, sometime they need to physically release that and that just happens to be in the form of screams in your case. Be happy it’s not in other ways. ;)

  23. ladyalthea says:

I didn’t scream outloud, but in my head I was screaming and crying.
I laughed out loud. However, I did cry when Edward left in the New Moon. I am a sap like that.

Although I did shout out a few frustrations at least once in each book.
But I wouldn’t scream if I met Robert…at least not out loud.
The books are amazing and I still re-re-read them.

  24. kim0403 says:

It’s just a story, no screams! Rob’s just an actor, playing out the story. Youngin’s really enjoy the story coming to life and now, he is what they can relate to.

  25. Eleonoor says:

    I’m Dutch.
    We don’t scream.
    Unless it’s something bad.
Like being attacked, or if there’s a fire somewhere.
    Otherwise it’s unnecessary.

  26. littlewing says:

That’s funny honestly Rob sometimes I do. Edward is very sexy and he always say’s the right things especially in Eclipse!

  27. NavyGal says:

Did I scream while reading? Noooo…I did laugh quite a bit. I think I cried once. The only time I screamed in frustration was while waiting for my friends to catch up to where I was so we could discuss it. They all read very, very slowly!!!

  28. photosinger637 says:

No way. A real Twatlighter doesn’t go ~screaming fangirl over cockblocking.
I wouldn’t scream if I met Rob, either. Maybe I’m just quiet?

  29. twitexan says:

Dear Rob – It’s great you get to ask a question for a change! In answer, no screaming during Twilight; there were tears for New Moon, and I actually ‘gasped’ at certain parts of Breaking Dawn! I know you are convinced people are screaming because of Edward, but, face it! They are screaming because they love you!! Edward was just their vehicle for finding YOU! I would DIE if I knew you actually read this! Good luck always and have a wonderful holiday with your family.

  30. ta5ha says:

    Hi Rob,

When I read the first three book, I don’t scream. But the fourth book yeah i did, because When I knew that you played as EDWARD CULLEN ,you gave a goosebump.. :)

    XoXo,
    Natasha

  31. Emo_Drama_Dork says:

    Hi, Rob!

Well…I didn’t SCREAM at the books. I just have a tendancy to talk to the characters in the book and yell at them (nicely…kinda) when they do something stupid. And then I just talk to the book in general. Typical “What the Hell” and “Oh Shit”. I’m very animated when I read them. But I did cry when needed. And I felt empty when the books ended…especially the last book. A definate feeling of “Oh crap, now what? I’m so lost…” That has subsided with time though. At first, I just sat there, empty.

I hope that answers your question! Also, you did an AMAZING job as Edward. I skipped school Nov. 21 to see the movie. It was worth it…

    Much love,
    Melissa

  32. padme35 says:

No I didn’t scream when I read the books. My favorites were Eclipse&Breaking Dawn because you see the tension between Edward and Bella really heating up and when they finally get to consummate their marriage it is even more erotic because they do leave something left for the imagination! And I don’t understand these people screaming because Rob is just a person like anyone else.It is very illmannered and the poor guy is probably suffering some hearing loss,I mean my Lord he is not a God.People just need to chill out!

I vaguely recall screaming when my dog nipped off the corner of Eclipse for breakfast, but that’s about it. :-)

  35. krucksue says:

I did scream, laugh, and cry when I read the books. However, if I ever had the opportunity to meet and hopefully I will at Twicon 2008, I will not scream at you. I think you and the rest of the cast did a great job with the film.

  36. carlincullen says:

    Twilight: I screamed… a lot

New Moon: I scream/cried when Edward was a butt

Eclipse:I got mad at Bella for kissing Jacob(even though i love him) when she kissed him… or ate his face, whatever…

and Breaking Dawn: I screamed when Renesmee was born because i theorized it bout 6 months before as a joke and was RIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

    and help?
    :-)=
    yeah, it’s a vampire

  37. twilight_lover says:

  39. kadeetaylor says:

Yes Rob, I screamed AND giggled while reading Twilight!

  40. LindseyB says:

Okay, not gonna lie I am a new Twilighter. I had never heard of the series and only went to see the movie cause my Best Friend told me the cute guy who played Cedric Diggory was in it. However, after I saw the movie I went home and read all of the books. I did laugh at several points, but alas no, I did not scream nor would I scream at any of the Twilight actors. Maybe it has something to do with being twenty and not thirteen, I don’t know. I feel kind of sorry for the actors, that they always being screamed at.

  41. atsirc11 says:

Ha I did scream a bit at the books. When a character did something I didn’t want them to do. I mostly squealed.

  42. sleepiehed7 says:

hey rob, i did not scream when i was reading the twilight series. im not really a screamer. but i did squeal, a lot, in between really good parts. because they were sooo good. and i had to let out my excitement in some way

  43. Nursebeki01 says:

I didn’t scream while I read the books. I did throw New Moon across the room about 3 times though. This is the most frustrating book for me. I was overly excited when I told others about the book. When a friend would ask to borrow the book, i would go out and buy them one. I just could not part with my books!

  44. blackblasphemy462 says:

i certainly had my moments while reading the books, but i never flat out screamed at any part. i was definately blushing and hyperventilating though. i’ ve been reading all of the books over and over again and now that i have a vivid image of all of the characters (Rob as Edward, Kristen as Bella..etc.) i unintentionally let out a little squeal at the most emotional parts. Otherwise, i am quite calm while reading. Thanks for caring about our opinions Rob! We love Edward because we imagine him as you!

  45. felida_wa says:

My daughter and our neighbor were in the backyard reading New Moon, suddenly, I heard a scream, “NO EDWARD!” I ran to the back expecting to have to beat off some tresspasser, instead, the neighbor was staring in shock, and my daughter was laughing.
I asked what happened, and the girl mumbled, “Edward left…”

  46. Hjaltalinn says:

I can’t say I screamed while reading the book.
Or any book for that matter. When I read I become completely engrossed by the book, and do little else.
And if meeting you in person, the only reason I would have for screaming would be out of frustration with the other screaming girls. My ear drums can’t take that sort of beating. Girls can be frightening in crowds, eh? Kudos to you for being able to stand it.

  47. melee7 says:

    Hello Rob,

No, I didn’t scream when I read the books and it is sad to say that I have read then more than once. I do not understand what it is about these books but they tend to create a sort of an obsessive behavior. Just to let you know I would never scream in public, for one thing I hate to have attention drawn to myself and also I am much older than the teenagers showing up to the premieres and signing.

On that note, Rob I think the reason you are getting so much attention now has to do with the fact that you seem to be such genuine of a person in your interviews, not just an actor playing a role who now trying to promote their movie, that people are being drawn to you personally and not the character that you play. I would have to say if I was being honest, you played a great Edward but I would have liked it better if I could have kept him just in my imagination.

I wish you the best of luck in your career and I hope that all this fame will not taint you in anyway.

  48. ashley says:

I have to admit that I almost screamed at New Moon. The books were beautiful and well written, and you played Edward Cullen outrageously well. I believe that the movie and the books encapsulate a universal emotion in everyone. I’m looking forward to New Moon and I also hope to hear some new music from you in the future.

  49. robbiesgrl says:

I actually didn’t scream while reading these books, because don’t scream while reading any books. But I did gasp many times, and my heart started racing, and I got very tense and got choked up. Even though I didn’t scream, I shouted a few words, especially in Eclipse.

    Love ya Rob!

  50. ShazRose says:

Hi Rob, don’t know if you’ll ever get to reading this entry, however since this is the first time YOU have asked the question instead of the one being asked, it just seems right that I spend some of my time to answer your question – seeing you must have spent hundreds of hours answering everyone’s questions!
I did scream whilst reading New Moon but fortunately for the rest of my office workmates, the screaming was all non-verbal. Inside my head, I screamed at the top of my lungs at Edward for leaving Bella. All that pent up emotion I couldn’t verbally expressed, subsequently found their way in written word as a poem entitled “The Worst Kind”

There are different kinds of hunger
The worst is one that cannot be assuaged by food or drink.
There are different kinds of failure
The worst is when you had expectations to succeed.
There are different kinds of hopelessness
The worst is when you are filled with dreams.
There are different kinds of goodbyes
The worst is when you know there will never be a hello to follow.
There are different kinds of loneliness
The worst is when you are amidst a crowd.
There are different kinds of knives
The sharpest is the one that strikes at the heart.
There are different kinds of wounds
The worst is the invisible kind.
There are different kinds of bruises
The worst are the marks left on your memories.
There are different kinds of betrayal
The worst is denying your true self.
There are different kinds of torture
The worst is the guilt you inflict on yourself.
There are different kinds of pain
The worst is one past the physical.
There are different kinds of suffering
The worst is when it’s happening to the one you love and you are helpless to do anything about it.
There are different kinds of death
The worst is when you are alive to feel it.
There are different kinds of living
The worst is when you have nothing to live for….

There are different kinds of loss
The worst is when you had love but lost it…

Rob, I like you as an actor and as a person (based on your interview responses). I wish you the best in life – may you find what you really want (after you’ve determined what it is, of course!).
